Quango cull will hit lobbyists

As part of the drive to make £3bn of efficiency savings, Gordon Brown is talking about ‘merging or abolishing 120 government quangos’.

The move could see profits take a nosedive at one or two top lobbying firms…

For example, recent clients of Connect Public Affairs include the Audit Commission, Children’s Workforce Development Council, NHS Information Centre, Financial Services Authority and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation…

At Weber Shandwick, recent public affairs clients include the Health & Safety Executive, The Learning and Skills Council, Digital UK, Energy Saving Trust, Agricultural & Horticulture Development Board….

And the list goes on…
