Andrew Rawnsley’s new tome, The End of The Party, was finally published on Monday.
In the introduction, he heaps praise on Ed Owen, the affable former aide to Jack Straw who now heads up UK public affairs for Euro RSCG Apex Communications.
Rawno writes: ‘Special advisers… get a bad press even though many journalists rely on them. At their worst they can be malevolent and mendacious operators. At their best, I have found them candid and insightful. Two outstanding examples are Huw Evans, aide to David Blunkett, and Ed Owen, aide to Jack Straw.’
All PR firms like to think their public affairs man has real credibility in Westminster. But few can boast such a strong reference.
Nice work Ed!
